Dear Alcalde Families,
As the new principal of Alcalde Elementary School, I welcome you to the start of the 2015-2016 school year! I am eagerly anticipating an amazing year, and I look forward to working with the dedicated staff, parents and community to provide an extraordinary educational experience for Alacalde’s students.
For those who I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting, please allow me to introduce myself. Prior to joining the Espanola School District, I worked in the Santa Fe School District as Director of Bilingual and Multicultural Education. Before moving to New Mexico I was Director of Student Services for Worthington Public Schools in southwest Minnesota. I also have thirty years of classroom experience ranging from pre-kindergarten through adult learners.
I recognize the start of school can signal feelings of both excitement and trepidation, and I thank you for entrusting your children to the Alcalde staff. We do not take lightly our responsibility in ensuring your children experience a highly-engaging educational experience in a safe and nurturing environment, and we are thrilled to partner with our families as they embark on their children’s academic journey.
I am excited and honored to join the Alcalde family for what I know will be an incredible school year. Please know that I truly have an open door policy, and I welcome your questions, concerns, and input at any time.
Proud to be an Alcalde Leopard,
Dr. Deborah J. Mitchell
